Some General info
My personal feelings and convictions in regards to some Beauceron issues I feel are  Important

Breeding: I believe anyone has the right to breed any dog they wish, however, that being said
I try to hold myself ( which is the only person I can control) to a high standard, that along
with my background as a Emergency Vet Tech for many years lends itself to
the selection of dogs that I believe would benefit the breed as a whole.
I'm not perfect nor are any of my dogs, but I will always make my selection to
hopefully improve on those imperfections.
With the dynamics of the internet and the fact that often times it's not practical
for people to see a Beauceron or meet a Beauceron breeder in person before purchasing a puppy
and vice versa
understandably it  can be a bit daunting.
Please feel free to express any concerns or questions you have with me.

Competition between rival breeders is ongoing in most breeds ours is no exception.
In addition until the AMERICAN BEAUCERON CLUB changes  it's membership Policy,
I currently
don' t want to be involved with this parent club.
Please read                                as to why  membership for me
was
withheld-(until I provide an explanation) not because there is a ethics question
about my breeding practices but because I am friends with someone they possibly
don't like or approve of!
AKC is very supportive of parent clubs
and possibly gives the less informed GP
a false sense of security by dealing with only those who are members of one.
Not my belief at all, I did feel  if one of my puppy
buyers were interested in joining
you have to know someone in the club to get in
I would join for this purpose ,and see how it goes.
As of now, I am rescinding my application for membership
with
the AMERICAN BEAUCERON CLUB.

Health Certifications:  As for health checks there are numerous health checks available today.
I am a big proponent of
PennHip follow the link for more info.  Having been a Animal Health Tech
for over 13yrs and having seen and known many dogs afflicted with Hip Dysplasia,
I know how very painful and costly a it can be.  I would do anything in my power to avoid any

of my dogs being affected by it, this is why I choose PennHip.
In my opinion it is the most advanced method for hip evaluation.
Hips are generally x-rayed and evaluated for basic health of the joint and laxity
there are really only 2 accepted org.  from which to choose from,
Orthopedic Foundation for Animals OFA or  PennHIp
Pennsylvania Hip Improvement program
these are 2 completely different types of evaluation and there are many differing
opinions about which is better-- Please check out my Hips page for Hip scores on
the dogs and how and why I believe this is a superior method for the Hip health of my dogs.

I've never had a dog with Elbow Dysplasia I don't x-ray for it.
Is that a good enough reason?  For me since in all my years of Vet Tech
'ing I've never seen a
dog with it,  I'm ok with my decision not to at this time.
Nor do I regularly do
Eye or Heart Certs.  The reason is those are ongoing Certs,
they can be neg today and positive tomorrow which can give a false sense of security.
I own multiple dogs from over a breeding spa
n 20+ years
none of whom, knock on wood, I have any knowledge of being
affected with these health issues.  If in the future it was to
come up I would reevaluate my position.

Feeding:   Personally I keep my dogs trim and fit I do not over feed!!!
I believe it lends to much healthier and longer lived dogs!  I also believe in feeding an
all natural/raw diet.  Check out these links
After several years of feeding Raw I am very comfortable with it and
convinced Mother Nature knows best!
I give only a full Health Guarantee on those pups that are fed a raw diet as I think the chemicals
and by-products in commercial food(no matter what the label says) can cause
all kinds of adverse affects health wise for a dog.
And yes, many dogs will live long lives on it, but my belief is they would have lived
a longer healthier life on a Raw diet.
I don't require it, but I highly recommend it.
